Statewide organized retail theft crackdown ends in 117 arrests

SACRAMENTO – A statewide crackdown on organized retail theft resulted in 117 arrests and the restoration of $38,000 in stolen merchandise final week, in response to officers.

The Livermore, San Ramon and Walnut Creek police departments have been among the many 10 legislation enforcement businesses that participated within the crackdown, in response to officers.

The suspects are anticipated to face costs starting from petty theft and grand theft to organized retail theft, officers mentioned.

“Through proactive enforcement operations and strong partnerships with local law enforcement and retailers, we were able to protect the state’s businesses and consumers during one of the busiest times of the year,” CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee mentioned in an announcement.

“Our efforts send a clear message that retail theft in California will not be tolerated,” he mentioned.

Officers mentioned the CHP will proceed working with companies and communities to stop retail theft.

Created in 2019, the CHP Organized Retail Crime Job Power has been concerned in over 3,200 investigations, resulting in the arrest of greater than 3,500 suspects and the restoration of practically 1.3 million stolen items value $51.3 million, in response to officers.
