Boeing is ready to put off 2,199 employees within the state of Washington within the coming months, with some dropping their jobs simply days earlier than Christmas.

The aviation firm notified the state of Washington of the cuts, in keeping with FOX 13 Seattle. One other 220 folks will lose their jobs in South Carolina, Reuters reported. The 2 states are the place Boeing builds business airliners.

“As previously announced, we are adjusting our workforce levels to align with our financial reality and a more focused set of priorities. We are committed to ensuring our employees have support during this challenging time,” an announcement from Boeing to FOX Enterprise stated.

Boeing stated, “eligible employees will receive severance pay, career transition services, and subsidized health care benefits up to 3 months after exiting the company.”

Boeing shares gained 2.6% to shut at $143.87 on Monday.
