The native nonprofit Faculty of Adaptive Arts is becoming a member of forces with the San Jose Barracuda AHL hockey crew for its “Hockey is for Everyone” fundraiser on Nov. 16.

College students from Faculty of Adaptive Arts will sing the opening Nationwide Anthem and carry out a particular cheer routine throughout the recreation. Based mostly out of West Valley Faculty in Saratoga, the Faculty of Adaptive Arts supplies faculty packages for adults with mental and developmental disabilities.

The occasion can be a fundraiser, with a portion of the ticket gross sales going to the Faculty of Adaptive Arts (CAA). Daniel Fruzzetti, a consultant from the Barracudas, stated the occasion is designed to welcome and acknowledge individuals of all backgrounds.

CAA Govt Director Nicole Kim stated cash raised on the occasion will go to the nonprofit’s common fund and can possible be used for networking occasions for college students.

The CAA presents a workforce improvement program known as the Cardinal Apprenticeship Program, and the nonprofit’s upcoming partnership with the Barracudas is the results of the outreach work {that a} pupil in this system did, Kim stated.

The occasion can even function a possibility for college students to place what they’ve realized to make use of. One pupil with an curiosity in journalism has secured an interview with a hockey participant on the crew, Kim stated.

“It’s really just an opportunity for the students to perform and transform perceptions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and have some fun, social time together,” Kim stated. “That’s the primary reason; fundraising is the icing on the cake.”
