“I’d like to take that guy for a swim out there, anyway,” Biden added, referring to Hinchliffe, because the viewers chuckled.
“Steny’s looking at me, ‘Don’t get going Joe, don’t get going Joe, slow up,’” Biden stated, referring to Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md, earlier than getting again to his speech.

Biden’s remarks about Hinchliffe got here hours earlier than he appeared to disparage Trump supporters throughout a digital Harris marketing campaign name with Voto Latino, a non-profit group which inspires younger Hispanic and Latino voters to register to vote and develop into extra politically concerned.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden stated. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American.”
The remark shortly went viral and sparked swift condemnation from critics.

Biden tried to make clear his feedback on social media as solely directed at one supporter.
“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden wrote on X. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.”
Trump himself reacted to the “terrible” remark whereas talking at a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
“Remember Hillary? She said ‘deplorable’ and then said ‘irredeemable,’ right? But she said ‘deplorable.’ That didn’t work out. ‘Garbage’ I think is worse,” Trump stated to his supporters. “But he doesn’t know — you have to please forgive him. Please forgive him. For he not knoweth what he said.”
“And I’m convinced he likes me more than he likes Kamala,” Trump quipped.
