Trump on rally speaker’s Puerto Rico feedback: ‘I can not think about it is a large deal’

Former President Trump on Tuesday shrugged off the furor over a racist joke informed by a comic at his Madison Sq. Backyard rally.

Trump made his first on-camera feedback in regards to the backlash over Tony Hinchcliffe’s remarks during which he in contrast Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage.”

Requested if he wished Hinchcliffe weren’t on the rally, Trump mentioned, “Probably, he shouldn’t have been there, yeah.”

The previous president mentioned he has an “unbelievably good relationship with Puerto Rico,” although he confronted intense criticism over his administration’s dealing with of Hurricane Maria and repeatedly sparred with island officers.

Hinchcliffe delivered a set hours earlier than Trump spoke that included inflammatory assaults on Puerto Ricans.

“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe mentioned, eliciting blended reactions from the gang.

At one other level, Hinchcliffe mentioned Latinos “love making babies.”

“They do. There’s no pulling out. They don’t do that. They come inside. Just like they did to our country,” he mentioned.

The comment drew backlash from Democrats and even some Trump allies, who lamented that it grew to become a serious storyline within the ultimate week of the marketing campaign and probably alienated voters in essential battleground states.

The Trump marketing campaign, in a uncommon transfer, distanced itself from Hinchcliffe’s “garbage” joke, saying it “does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
