The standing of cruise operations was within the highlight after unionized dockworkers at ports alongside the East and Gulf coasts hit the picket traces on Tuesday.

Whereas cargo at many main ports has been disrupted because the starting of the Worldwide Longshoremen’s Affiliation (ILA) strike, the union mentioned final week that its members would “continue to work passenger cruise vessels” through the work stoppage.

“We understand that many families plan and pay for cruise vacations on passenger ships more than a year out, and we don’t want them to be disappointed or inconvenienced in any way,” ILA President Harold Daggett mentioned Sept. 25 of the union’s pledge to maintain working cruise ships amid the port strikes. “For almost three years during the worst of the pandemic, the cruise ship industry was shut down, and our ILA rank-and-file members handling passenger cruise vessels lost a lot of man hours.”

BUSINESS GROUPS CALL ON BIDEN TO INTERVENE IN PORT STRIKE

A spokesperson for the ILA confirmed to FOX Enterprise on Tuesday that he hadn’t heard of any ports the place that dedication was not being upheld.

Cruise Strains Worldwide Affiliation, which counts operators like Carnival, Disney, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean amongst its members, mentioned it was “aware of the work stoppage by the International Longshoremen’s Association and appreciated ILA’s commitment to continue supporting cruise ships during this time so travelers can still enjoy their vacations.”

Along with persevering with to work cruise ships, the ILA mentioned it will “continue to honor its century-plus pledge to handle all military cargo” throughout a strike.
