(Bloomberg/Emily Birnbaum) — A US Home committee is looking on Anthropic Chief Govt Officer Dario Amodei to testify a few Chinese language cyber-espionage assault the corporate revealed earlier this month.
Leaders of the Home Homeland Safety Committee requested Amodei to look earlier than the panel on Dec. 17 to debate the rise of AI-orchestrated cyberattacks. The committee additionally requested testimony from Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian and Quantum Xchange CEO Eddy Zervigon.
Anthropic didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark. In a weblog put up on Nov. 13, the corporate stated it disrupted a complicated AI-led espionage marketing campaign from China that used the corporate’s Claude chatbot. The corporate described it as “the first reported AI-orchestrated cyber espionage campaign.” Anthropic stated the Chinese language state-sponsored group used Claude to try infiltration into “thirty global targets and succeeded in a small number of cases.”
“The operation targeted large tech companies, financial institutions, chemical manufacturing companies, and government agencies,” Anthropic stated within the weblog put up. “We believe this is the first documented case of a large-scale cyberattack executed without substantial human intervention.”
Home Homeland Safety Committee Chair Andrew Garbarino within the letter stated the panel is carefully analyzing how advances “in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and related technologies, and hyperscale cloud infrastructure are reshaping both defensive capabilities and the operational tradecraft available to state-sponsored cyber actors.”
Garbarino wrote the CEOs can supply perception into securing cloud environments and integrating AI into cyber protection.
