WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration introduced Wednesday that it’s going to cut back air site visitors by 10% throughout 40 “high-volume” markets starting Friday morning to keep up security in the course of the ongoing authorities shutdown.

The company is confronting staffing shortages brought on by air site visitors controllers, who’re working unpaid, with some calling out of labor in the course of the shutdown, leading to delays throughout the nation.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford stated the company is just not going to attend for an issue to behave, saying the shutdown is inflicting staffing pressures and “we can’t ignore it.”

Bedford and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated they’ll meet later Wednesday with airline leaders to determine how one can safely implement the discount.
