The remark drew widespread condemnation, particularly from the ruling CPI(M). Training Minister V. Sivankutty known as the comment “extremely despicable and insulting to cultural Kerala.” He wrote on social media that such statements had been “inhuman and anti-democratic” and may by no means come from a pacesetter of a significant political organisation.
