Retired New York Jets heart Nick Mangold has handed away on the age of 41.

“Nick was more than a legendary center,” mentioned Jets Chairman Woody Johnson.
“He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football,” his assertion continued.
“Off the field, Nick’s wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family.”
Nick Mangold’s reason behind demise revealed
Mangold handed simply weeks after revealing that he was in want of a kidney transplant resulting from a genetic situation.

“In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease,” Mangold wrote on social media.
“I’m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have more time.”
Drafted within the first spherical of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, Mangold shortly emerged as one of many league’s premier facilities.
Within the seasons that adopted, the Centerville, Ohio native helped lead the Jets’ offense to 2 consecutive AFC Championship Recreation appearances in 2009 and 2010.
Sadly, Mangold’s time within the league was suffering from accidents, and he was launched by the Jets in 2017. He retired the next yr.

Mangold was inducted into the Jets’ Ring of Honor in 2022.
“He was more than a teammate. He was my big brother who introduced me to the NFL,” Sanchez continued, including:
“He showed me the ropes. He was my friend and confidant. He was a role model and a great father to his children and husband to his wife. Our hearts are heavy. We will miss you. Rest easy amigo. I love you big fella.”
