These Bay Space cities and counties are getting  million to clear homeless camps

As frustration continues to mount over sprawling homeless camps in practically each nook of the Bay Space, the state is stepping in with thousands and thousands of {dollars} to maneuver folks from metropolis sidewalks, parks and floodplains throughout the area and into shelter and housing.

These Bay Space cities and counties will obtain funding:

– Antioch: $6.8 million

-Berkeley: $5.4 million

-Petaluma: $8.1 million

-Richmond:  $9.3 million

-San Jose: $4.8 million

-San Francisco: $7.9 million

-Contra Costa: $5.7 million

Thus far, the $1 billion “encampment resolution” program has granted greater than $730 million to clear encampments throughout not less than 21 counties and 41 cities, and helped fund 109 shelter tasks. The objective is to assist homeless folks discover everlasting housing, although the preliminary outcomes have been blended.

Ultimately depend, the Bay Space had an estimated homeless inhabitants of round 38,000, a roughly 35% spike since 2019.
