Shares of Superior Micro Units Inc., a U.S.-based semiconductor firm, surged in premarket buying and selling Monday morning after the U.S.-based semiconductor firm introduced a deal to supply computing energy for OpenAI’s next-generation AI methods.

The businesses described the deal, introduced on Monday, as a “win-win,” saying it can allow very large-scale AI deployments and advance your complete ecosystem.

AMD shares are up greater than 35% as of 8:30 a.m. ET.

AMD agreed to supply sufficient of its graphics processing items (GPUs) to assist 6 gigawatts of computing energy for OpenAI’s next-generation AI methods. A GPU is a kind of laptop chip that handles advanced calculations shortly and is especially helpful for coaching AI fashions.

Within the first part of the deal, which is able to start within the second half of 2026, OpenAI will use 1 gigawatt of AMD’s upcoming MI450 chips, that are AMD’s next-generation GPU mannequin.

“Our partnership with OpenAI is expected to deliver tens of billions of dollars in revenue for AMD while accelerating OpenAI’s AI infrastructure buildout,” stated AMD CFO Jean Hu.

AMD issued OpenAI a warrant for as much as 160 million shares of AMD frequent inventory that can vest as sure milestones are achieved.
